Inheritance & Estates in Israel – For Heirs Abroad
When a family member who owned assets in Israel passes away, the heirs usually need an inheritance order or a probate order (for a will) before anything can be transferred. If you live abroad, a power of attorney lets us take care of the process in Israel for you.
How we help
- Prepare a power of attorney for the inheritance process
- Apply on your behalf to the Registrar of Inheritance Affairs in Israel
- After the order is granted, help transfer inherited apartments, bank funds and other assets
- Coordinate between heirs who live in different countries – each can sign in their own country
Documents you may need
Typically a death certificate, details of the deceased and the heirs, and the original will if there is one. Documents issued abroad may need an apostille and a translation. We'll send you a personal checklist.
Common questions
Several heirs live in different countries. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Each heir signs their own power of attorney where they live, and we coordinate everything.
Do we need to apply in Israel if the person died abroad?
If the deceased left assets in Israel, an Israeli inheritance or probate order is usually needed to deal with them. We'll check your situation.
How long does it take?
It varies with the case and the authorities' workload. The timeframe varies from case to case – we'll give you an estimate in your consultation.
